LOVE HURTS DUET by M ROBINSON

“I want a guy who wants to be with me. The one who will do anythin’ to make me happy. The man who puts me first before everythin’ and anyone. I want the fairytale, my own Prince Charmin’. I know my worth, and I won’t stop till I find him. I refuse to settle. It’s just not in me.”

We loved how Monica Robinson turned this duet around and we found ourselves rooting for Harley and Jackson. The misunderstandings, the secrecy and the pretence all combined in conspiring to stand in the way of a true love. Harley and Jackson’s very own chaotic version of love. It was quite the emotional rollercoaster and we absolutely wanted to bang their heads together a few times. What they both let stand in their way of finding true happiness in each other’s arms was agonising at times. Monica Robinson threw in a few twists, which we loved, and she made sure we truly felt those important emotions in Love You Now. There’s a fine line between love and hate and Monica Robinson got it just right in our opinion. Love will always win!

THE PLAY (Briar U #3) by ELLE KENNEDY

‘I love this sport. I love the ice, the speed, the aggression. I love the physicality of it, the way every bone in my body jars and my teeth rattle when I’m slammed into the boards. Those are messed up things to love, but that’s hockey.’

There’s no doubt about it, Elle Kennedy can write one hell of a witty and sexy sports romance and we’ve been there for them all! We’re always excited another book is on the horizon, always eager to spend more time with her characters, and as The Play was Hunter Davenports story…he of the chaos from last season’s hockey loss, well, excited doesn’t cover it! We loved Hunter Davenport who was a bit of a mystery in previous books, but in The Play, he was a revelation.

Kennedy always manages to get the sports element of her stories spot on and we found ourselves awkwardly laughing at Demi’s fixation with real crime…something we both love too! Catching up with some favourite characters from past books was a lot of fun – it’s always good to see how these guys are faring, and we’re hoping Connor gets his book!
