DIRTY CHARMER by EMMA CHASE

“I’m leaving.”
“Funny. Typically the girls I kiss like to tell me when they’re coming.”

Dirty Charmer by Emma Chase landed on our kindles so we just had to get stuck in straight away as we couldn’t wait for Tommy Sullivan’s story. This bodyguard (check out the Royally Series) is a powerhouse with a dry and cheeky sense of humour -completely dead pan- which has had us in stitches. What we love about Tommy is that he takes one day at a time, enjoying his life, job, family and friends with an almost child-like approach, but at no time were we fooled into believing he is not ALL MAN where and when it counts! Tommy is so confident in who he is that it’s impossible to not fall in love with this cocky and endearing protector! We’re glad his mum didn’t drown him at birth as the medium advised hahaha!!!! When Tommy is hired to guard the quiet and aspiring heart surgeon who is the epitome of stiff upper lip he recognises her from a stint in hospital and what Tommy wants, Tommy gets. And Tommy wants Abby. This is a complete case of opposites attracts with an explosive chemistry and fierce passion.

STONE PRINCESS (Tin Gypsy #3) by DEVNEY PERRY

We are LOVING this series!

"I'm not perfect, Presley. I'm just a man, flawed like any other. The perfection is an illusion."

We are so completely invested in The Tin Gypsy series and after reading the last two books (Riven Knight and Stone Princess)back to back, we're now desperate for the release of Noble Prince in November! In Stone Princess Devney Perry beautifully combined elements we crave - Hollywood romance, small-town romance and biker romance. Whilst this biker series may not be the dark and edgy MC books we normally associate with this theme, the author delivers the warring biker 'feel' in the underlying presence of hostility between the now-defunct Tin Gypsy's and rival MC Club, the Arrowhead Warriors. Their rivalry and revenge simmer throughout the series, giving each book that suspenseful edge we devour, mixed with passion, banter heartfelt emotion.

We enjoyed this story so much! We swooned like crazy over Shaw Valance, and we giggled at his wicked sense of humour - his easy-going nature complimenting Presley's prickly personality perfectly. Oh did we swoon!

RIVEN KNIGHT (Tin Gypsy #2) by DEVNEY PERRY

‘After everything that had happened on that mountain, in that cabin, Genevieve and I had to lie.’
‘Day by day, I was falling in love with the lie.’

Riven Knight is the second book in the Tin Gypsy series by Devney Perry. We really enjoyed the first instalment; Gypsy King, but we loved Riven Knight! The storyline from book one continues here with the after effects of the drama that played out on the mountain. A kidnapping, a death and a fire. Just what actually happened? And why do Genevieve and Isaiah need to get married to protect themselves? Well we were absolutely dying to find out and Devney Perry had us on tenterhooks throughout. The way in which it played out was so compelling and full of twists, we loved it. The writing is superb and the intensity and intrigue gripping. Not only that, but we also loved the sibling connection with Kaine from Tragic; Devney Perry’s Lark Cove series, which was a 5 star read for us!

This series is just getting better and better with Riven Knight proving to be one heck of a heart-breaking and emotional rollercoaster ride. It had everything that excites us; romance, heat and a brilliantly written story. Not only that, it was high on suspense, drama and passion.

LIFE OF DEBAUCHERY DUET by M ROBINSON

‘Cash affected my mind, my heart, my soul. His God given talent. I could touch it. Feel it. Taste it. It enveloped me. Devoured me…’

M Robinson certainly pulls no punches when she turns on the angst and emotion in Cash McGraw’s raw and gritty story. A rock star, friends to lovers’ duet that took us from past to present throughout, the emotion gripped our hearts, bringing us to tears – tears of hope, frustration and pain. Cash and Journey’s story isn’t a pretty one, but it is compelling reading!

This duet is a story of friendship, family, love and redemption, with Robinson covering every aspect in all its gut-wrenching agony. This author writes to the beat of her own drum, and whilst her love stories aren’t hearts and flowers, and her characters aren’t perfect, she brilliantly and unapologetically brings us flawed characters who travel a difficult road to find love. Their journey’s make up sit up and take notice, making us wince as we share their pain and heartache.

NO PRINCE by STEVIE J COLE & LP LOVELL

“Everything I did was because I loved you.”
“Then I don’t want your love because it hurts.”

No Prince by Stevie J Cole and L P Lovell was reminiscent of those bad boy romances we used to love. The type of stories that are just so messed up you can’t help but fall in love with them in all their ugly and raw hopelessness and fierce passion. These two Authors nailed the sense of despair, the gut wrenching fight to not repeat the mistakes of those who came before and that inherent survival instinct of those who must fight in life to stay above the waterline and keep breathing without drowning.

YOU DESERVE EACH OTHER by SARAH HOGLE

We LOVED this one!

“Relearning you has been the best thing that's ever happened to me.”

What a fantastic read with an interesting twist on the enemies to lovers’ trope! With Naomi and Nicholas hellbent on antagonising one another at every opportunity, it’s more a lovers to enemies to lovers’ theme and we lapped up all the funny, crazy, heartbreaking and beautifully emotional moments!

A little reminiscent War of the Roses/Mr and Mrs Smith (though without the violence!), we were completely dazzled by, and invested in the characters, the romance and the eventual outcome of Naomi and Nicholas’s story. Not to mention swooning crazily over Nicholas. This guy… we loved him! If you love the enemies to lover’s trope, you need to grab this book!

THE INFINITE ONION by ALICE ARCHER

‘He smiles that smile and kisses me for the first time, as if his smile was always supposed to be a kiss.’

The Infinite Onion by Alice Archer came as such a wonderful, passionately written surprise. As the title suggests this book was indeed a story built on layers of human emotions, human struggles, human behaviour as well as consequences. This is the first book we’ve read by this Author and we were in awe of the depth of story and character development. Right from the beginning, a steady drum of momentum built -ever so slowly- yet intricately written with an emphasis on the characters. We were intrigued and compelled by Grant and Oliver, as individuals as well as the importance of their mutually healing relationship. Their story of what shaped their ‘now’. Where one showed an apparent strength the other was at a place in life where everything seemed overwhelmingly insurmountable. However, the face we show others may not always be the face of our truth.

We truly loved this epic journey of a story which was purely character driven.  The infinite Onion was a powerful and relevant story which touched our hearts immensely.

GREAT and PRECIOUS THINGS by REBECCA YARROS

‘I wanted to paint this moment, to capture this exact feeling as I watched him at peace. A peace I knew would vanish the moment he opened his eyes and the world beat its way in. ‘

Great and Precious Things is our second book by Rebecca Yarros and once again, we were moved by her stellar writing in a heart wrenching, sincere and beautifully emotional story of family secrets, deep love, choices and second chances. Our hearts broke and soared in equal measure.

Great and Precious Things is a beautiful story, it’s a story that’s poignant, topical and told with so much heart. We can always feel when an author pours so much of themselves into a story, it jumps off the pages into our hearts and that certainly happened with this story. Told with a smattering of drama and family intrigue, we were present for every moment.

BLACKOUT by OLIVIA EVANS

“I feel like I know everything and absolutely nothing about him. I want him to tell me what happened for him to end up at our meetings, but I’m not willing to tell him my story. I’m a hypocrite.”

Blackout by Olivia Evans had a sombre tone with layers of complex human emotion. In the face of the #metoo campaign, this story is so relevant and important. We do not always know the face of the one who hurt us which intensifies the psychological trauma and fear of the unknown. Wanting to prevent further unbearable pain, barriers are built to keep the necessary distance. Daily tasks are on autopilot and isolation becomes a defence mechanism. The black of the dark becomes what haunts as well as the hiding place of comfort.

Gavin is keeping secrets. A man in a sea of women with one thing in common, he is drawn to Lonna, as Lonna is drawn to him. Both are walking the line between personal breakdown and survival. Yet an immediate bond is formed and in each other, they find a companion on the long road of healing. We felt everything Olivia Evans intended us to feel. And whilst we saw the main twist coming, it was still the emotional revelation which we needed and we felt the double-sided edge of closure, alongside Lonna.
