THE GOLDEN HOUR by L.M. HALLORAN

'Holding her is my reward….'

A cat and mouse game of sinister turns, suspenseful moments and passionate love.

L.M. Halloran is an automatic 1click author for us, and she's an author who knows how to deliver a dark romantic suspense, ensuring we're spellbound with every twisty turn. The way she threads her characters through various stories, makes us desperate to become more acquainted with each one we meet, which was the case with Finn McCowen, a character we met briefly in the fabulous Illusions Duet.

MISADVENTURES AT CITY HALL by VICTORIA BLUE

‘This man would always be my steady wall of safety. He would be the calm in my storm.’

We do love the Misadventure series; it guarantees hot and steamy passion as well as an easy to read storyline. Victoria Blue writes an enticing story in Misadventures at City Hall which sees, Kyle Armstrong relentlessly pursue career-driven, Skye Delaney. Their relationship was nothing but intense from the get-go and we enjoyed every minute!

Love has a funny way of turning up to bat when you least expect it though, which means hard decisions have to be made by Skye. As always though, love has a habit of conquering all obstacles in the end. Whilst this book can absolutely be read as standalone, we do wish we’d read Misadventures with a Book Boyfriend first, where the characters in this story were first introduced.

THE GAME YOU PLAY (Rixon Raiders #2) by L.A. COTTON

'He refused to give me the one thing that I really wanted. His heart.’

This Author writes the ultimate angst and enemies to lover’s romance. Readers who love high school bully romance and YA/NA sports romance will LOVE this series. It certainly invoked a lot of emotions in us and we were in a love-hate relationship with a lot of the characters along the way. We now cannot wait for the third book in this series.

We really enjoyed the high school dramatics, the soul searching and the sentiments, but we have to say we thrived on the intense angst that was so well written in this story. L.A. Cotton did a brilliant job with redemption and showing that what made the characters act in certain ways did not ultimately define them nor determine who they’d eventually become. Everyone deserves love and happiness because underneath a hard front, a human soft centre resides. ‘

THE CANDLE PALACE (Jamison Valley #6) by DEVNEY PERRY

‘Maybe his feelings for me weren’t as strong as mine were for him, but he wanted me to stay. That was something. That was everything.’

The Candle Palace by Devney Perry was incredibly sweet, romantic and encompassed the purity of humanity as well as its counterpart, compassion and ultimately love. We really enjoyed the love story of Sara and Milo, who we know from previous books in this wonderful series. There’s no question that Devney Perry writes the most heart-warming romance that’s both classy and subtle in its seduction.

The Candle Palace was a slow build romance in some respects, yet it also had an intense and immediate attraction. A somewhat forbidden romance, under difficult circumstances, which builds on an initial act of empathy and understanding. It was swoon-worthy, low on angst with emotional moments of heartbreak and pain.

BRINGING DOWN THE DUKE (A League of Extraordinary Women #1) by EVIE DUNMORE

"This is not a game to be won."
"Well, it certainly seems like a tremendous defeat to let you go."
'Don't let me go.'

What a wonderfully rich, swoony and interesting debut from Evie Dunmore. We’ve been on a bit of a historical renaissance lately and couldn’t wait to start Bringing Down the Duke. The era and the theme particularly sparked our interest, and the passion we experienced was palpable.

Ladies, just wait until you experience the passion and chemistry between Sebastian and Annabelle! It's tangible and felt like a living breathing being of its own!

YOU CAN HAVE MANHATTAN by P DANGELICO

“I don’t want your pity, Scott.”
“You don’t have it,” he said softly. “You have my admiration.’
“I’ll always find you,” he murmured.

You Can Have Manhattan by P Dangelico was a proper enemies to lovers’ romance with high angst and emotions. In this story, we as readers sure had to work at it to fall in love with the characters and their journey. Fortunately, P Dangelico writes wonderful characters that whilst they may tread the fine line between love and hate we undoubtedly had fallen in love with them by the end of their arduous love story.

THE AUSSIE NEXT DOOR (Patterson’s Bluff #1) by STEFANIE LONDON

"Thank you."
"For what?"
"For being you."

Stefanie London is a new to us author and her latest book, The Aussie Next Door served as the perfect introduction to her writing. Based in Patterson's Bluff, a small town in Melbourne Australia, this emotional rom-com was packed with humour, heart, and heat, not to mention a hero who soon had us falling head over heels!

There were so many elements we enjoyed in this story. The characters, the setting, the romance, the memorable 90's rom-com’s we love so much, and of course, add dogs into the equation and we're goners!  Those naughty and sweet little canines kept Jace on his toes and brought endless smiles to our faces! All Angie ever wanted was love, comfort and a home, in this sweet and tender love story, travel with her as she searches for her happily ever after.

THAT FOREVER GIRL (Getting Lucky #2) by MEGHAN QUINN

“I like to believe that some people hold the beat of another human’s heart in theirs, and they spend their entire lives searching for the owner.”

What a joy it was to be back with the Knightly clan and all the loveable quirky characters who reside in Port Snow, that quaint little New England town where meddlers, gossipers, and well-meaning folk make it a point to know each other’s business. And the sexy Knightly boys are most certainly the topic of conversation on many lips! There's plenty to gossip about since Griffin, Rogan, Reid, and Brig were love cursed by an angry clairvoyant two years ago on a boozy boys trip in New Orleans.

If you love small-town romances that are rich in scenery, packed with sweetness, heat, and fun, and looking for an easy reading escape, look no further than the Getting Lucky series! We promise it will put a smile on your face!

QUIET MAN (Dream Man #4.5) by KRISTEN ASHLEY

“I make you mine, officially, no one ever has you again, Lottie, but me.”

Reading Quiet Man by Kristen Ashley was pure indulgence for us. We often reminisce about the old school KA who we love with all our hearts. The Rock Chicks series and The Dream Man series being just two of this Author’s series which we can re-read over and over again and still feel how we did the first time we read them. So, to say we felt like we were in reading heaven with Quiet Man is putting it mildly.

We loved being back here, we loved the fact that there’s more to come and we would’ve loved to have kept reading! The joining of The Dream Man series and The Rock Chicks was brilliantly written and we felt the power when all these characters were gathered. Our hearts! The nostalgia for us was all over this novella, not just in regard to the characters but over the fact that this is as close as we’ve gotten to the old school KA we know and love, and it’s been a while since we were last able to say that. Bring it on! We want more!

A GIFT IN DECEMBER by JENNY GLADWELL

“I’m not completely sorry we both had our hearts broken. Not if it meant us ending up here.”

A gift in December by Jenny Gladwell is one of the most scenically beautiful stories we’ve read in a while. This historical fictional romance, which is mainly set in the snowy mountains of Norway, had such a vivid atmosphere we felt the cold winter nights, we tasted the snowflakes on our tongues and we breathed in the crystal cold fresh air. We have a new bucket list destination!

We absolutely loved the mystery, the setting and the romance of this story. It held us captivated from the first till the last page. From a dreary and rainy November in London, to a snowy and beautiful Norway, we became engrossed in a story of love, hope, memories and intrigue – focusing on a moment of history still honoured today.
