THE GOLDEN HOUR by L.M. HALLORAN

'Holding her is my reward….'

A cat and mouse game of sinister turns, suspenseful moments and passionate love.

L.M. Halloran is an automatic 1click author for us, and she's an author who knows how to deliver a dark romantic suspense, ensuring we're spellbound with every twisty turn. The way she threads her characters through various stories, makes us desperate to become more acquainted with each one we meet, which was the case with Finn McCowen, a character we met briefly in the fabulous Illusions Duet.

MISADVENTURES AT CITY HALL by VICTORIA BLUE

‘This man would always be my steady wall of safety. He would be the calm in my storm.’

We do love the Misadventure series; it guarantees hot and steamy passion as well as an easy to read storyline. Victoria Blue writes an enticing story in Misadventures at City Hall which sees, Kyle Armstrong relentlessly pursue career-driven, Skye Delaney. Their relationship was nothing but intense from the get-go and we enjoyed every minute!

Love has a funny way of turning up to bat when you least expect it though, which means hard decisions have to be made by Skye. As always though, love has a habit of conquering all obstacles in the end. Whilst this book can absolutely be read as standalone, we do wish we’d read Misadventures with a Book Boyfriend first, where the characters in this story were first introduced.

WAR OF HEARTS – A True Immortality Novel by S. YOUNG (SAMANTHA YOUNG)

‘She wanted to be touched, to be loved, and to touch and love in return…’

War of Hearts by Samantha Young felt like the kind of old school paranormal which we love so much, the kind that feels like pure adrenaline-inducing indulgence. Otherworldly beings, mythical creatures, drama and thrills, heat and passion. Paranormal romance is one of our favourites and this story absolutely confirmed why. Samantha Young writing as S Young nailed her first paranormal romance and we cannot wait for more from her. It had everything we loved and in many ways, it reminded us of why we fell in love with Samantha Young’s words, to begin with, back in 2012. This is one of her best books in our opinion.

Slow burn romances, when done well, are so incredibly enticing and thrilling and War of Hearts had a perfect pace. Conall and Thea start out as hunter and prey but end up as so much more. It was compelling reading as we travelled across Europe, visiting familiar sights as well as sights added to our bucket lists.

CHERRY BEATS by VICKI JAMES

5 Stars! You HAVE to read this book! A 2019 favourite, and up there as of our favourite Rockstar Reads of all time!

“Nothing tells you what a girl really wants to say like the song she’s begging you to listen to.”
“Don’t forget what this journey is about: the music, Presley. Always the music.”

Cherry Beats is THE rock star romance we have been searching for to satisfy our need for the real world of rock music, the raw emotions, the feeling of being in a packed stadium audience reverently banging our heads and belting out much-loved rock songs…out of tune of course. Cherry Beats is everything and Vicki James nailed it. The rock scene isn’t pretty, it isn’t all fun and fluff. Its highs can be equally matched with its low’s. It can be as dark as it can be bathed in a spotlight of adoration. It’s as filled with as much angst and self-doubt as it is filled with overwhelming joy and self-satisfaction.

In our opinion, the balance to get a rock star romance spot on is like walking a tightrope, this Author danced all over that tightrope and made it her bitch. She gave us everything and more. In Cherry Beats, Vicki James wrote one of our favourite rock star romances, one which will go on the list of never forget. The writing was outstanding and we must have highlighted half the book, as our hearts were pulled back and forth by truths, analogies, heartbreak, love, self-searching and the utter despair and exhilaration of achieving childhood dreams. And of course -the music- always the music.

YOU CAN HAVE MANHATTAN by P DANGELICO

“I don’t want your pity, Scott.”
“You don’t have it,” he said softly. “You have my admiration.’
“I’ll always find you,” he murmured.

You Can Have Manhattan by P Dangelico was a proper enemies to lovers’ romance with high angst and emotions. In this story, we as readers sure had to work at it to fall in love with the characters and their journey. Fortunately, P Dangelico writes wonderful characters that whilst they may tread the fine line between love and hate we undoubtedly had fallen in love with them by the end of their arduous love story.

FIGHTING ABSOLUTION by KATE McCARTHY

5 emotional and unforgettable stars! **Spoiler Free Review**

‘Jamie is my best friend, and I’m in love with her. How am I supposed to let her go?’

We cannot begin to describe how breath-taking yet heart-breaking this book is, how utterly captivating it is in its ugly and tragic reality. The tremendous and detailed research Kate McCarthy clearly carried out massively showed, also it ensured that we felt like we were in the midst of war with the brave souls fighting for the freedom of others.

Fighting Absolution will stay with us as we struggle to let this story go. The characters safe in our hearts for a long time to come. The emphasis on friendship, loyalty, hardship, compassion, and love was outstanding and gave us goosebumps at times. A GIFT IN DECEMBER by JENNY GLADWELL

“I’m not completely sorry we both had our hearts broken. Not if it meant us ending up here.”

A gift in December by Jenny Gladwell is one of the most scenically beautiful stories we’ve read in a while. This historical fictional romance, which is mainly set in the snowy mountains of Norway, had such a vivid atmosphere we felt the cold winter nights, we tasted the snowflakes on our tongues and we breathed in the crystal cold fresh air. We have a new bucket list destination!

We absolutely loved the mystery, the setting and the romance of this story. It held us captivated from the first till the last page. From a dreary and rainy November in London, to a snowy and beautiful Norway, we became engrossed in a story of love, hope, memories and intrigue – focusing on a moment of history still honoured today.

MOTI ON THE WATER by LEYLAH ATTAR

‘Alex had a dream. He had talent and drive and ambition. Every night, under the light of the moon, he cast his net toward the heavens to catch the stars.’

Moti on the Water by Leylah Attar was just hilarious, sweet and so rich with lessons in love, life and different cultures. It really read like those romantic comedies we love to watch and this book is a prime candidate to be made into a movie. Leylah Attar grabbed us from the get-go with a quirky family dynamic, an adorable heroine, a passionate hero and an engaging storyline which, whilst quite predictable, had us furiously turning the pages with a huge smile on our faces. What a wonderful summer read on the beach or by the pool! Just make sure, if like Moti you can’t swim, that you wear a swim vest as you’ll be swept away in the pages.

Leylah Attar writes with such beauty and poise. Her words flawlessly transport you into her world, where the scenery and food serve as their own rightful and stunning characters. Its peace and tranquillity forming the landscape for the utter chaos of family relationships.

THE GUY ON THE RIGHT by KATE STEWART

Loved this! Ahhh the romance!

We met at the same crossroads and that, in and of itself, makes her valuable to me as a friend more than anything else.’

We love Kate Stewart, so we were beyond excited to pick up The Guy on the Right. This is one of those times we can say that hand on heart this book is exactly what it claims to be, a true friends to lovers romance. It is without question one of our favourites in this trope. What we loved about it was that it was all about the characters, it was ‘simple’ in story yet at the same time it packed such a strong punch because in its simplicity pure magic was achieved. It never felt over-written or over-dramatic, rather, it felt easy and flawless. It felt real, specifically in its honesty of friendship and romance.

We cannot explain how much we loved Laney and Theo, both were written with such care and attention to detail, that we felt we knew them almost from the get-go. Their insecurities, their hang-ups, their hopes, and their dreams. Their needs, desires, and wants. We understood their friendships and their relationships. What we especially loved about these two characters is the shift from what is considered the ‘norm’ in romance novels. Kate Stewart gave us a male character that was portrayed in such a manner that we recognised him, not from other novels but from real life.
