TROUBLEMAKER by KAYLEY LORING

I can’t wait until my kid is old enough to actually tell me to fuck off, because that’s what his face is saying to me right now.’

Troublemaker by Kayley Loring was just what we needed. We just couldn’t stop laughing at the hilarious inner musings of both Emilia and Alex, as well as their brilliant banter and quick liners. And let’s not forget the sexual tension and connection which was on point! Kayley Loring nailed the romantic comedy and single dad aspect, so much so we are lining up the next one. Her sense of humour is completely in line with ours!

We seriously fell in love with the characters in Troublemaker, every single one had that special something we immediately connect with. Emilia was such a quirky and lovable heroine. She was adorable, nerdy, funny, sarcastic and surprising. We felt like she became a friend whilst reading. She’s certainly a match for the gorgeous, dry humoured, Alex Vega. Alex Vega….ALEX BLOODY VEGA!!!!! What a man, what a PERFECT man! Not only is he a great single dad and one of Hollywood’s hottest bachelors, he’s got a wicked sense of humour, he’s swoooooony and yeah…we immediately fell in love with him!!!

“Are we really bad at this? I asked. “We’ve been fake dating for three days and we’ve already fake broken up once.”
“Yes, but we fake resolved our difficulties and fake got back together, and I’m hoping is made us fake stronger.”

We loved this book!! Our hearts were positively bursting! We laughed, we swooned, and we fell in love with two vastly different guys, Luc, and Oliver!

A fake relationship, two beautiful men, a sort of enemies to lovers thrown into the mix, and the writing! OMG! We relished Alexis Hall’s writing style. The flair, the wit, the warmth, passion and romance….ohhh, it was all exactly what the book doctor ordered! What a fabulous feelgood story! These two guys completely stole our hearts!

We relished experiencing the emotions between Luc and Oliver will fill your heart, the banter between Luc, Oliver and their eccentric friends is a laugh out loud delight! The puns between Luc and his workmates Rhys and Alex will have you in stitches! The relationship between Luc and Mum is hilariously warm and yet, amongst an amusing, sweet and entertaining story, Alexis Hall manages to wonderfully explore the complexities of family relationships.

BEACH READ by EMILY HENRY

5 incredible stars! Without question, one of our most FAVOURITE read this year!!

‘She was in pain. I knew that. But I was in pain too, so much of it that for once I couldn’t laugh or dance any measure of it away. I couldn’t even write myself a happy ending.’

Beach Read by Emily Henry without question one of our favourite books of 2020. The storyline is so much more than what the cover and synopsis implies. So much more. We’ll come back to the cover later. Beach Read had us sobbing, it had us questioning human relations. It had us compelled! The writing was outstanding. This is so much more than a romance. It is a plethora of stories entwined perfectly crafted and shaped into an all-encompassing story of life. Beach Read is also a truly wonderful love story which slowly builds across the chapters.

We literally couldn’t have loved this book any more than what we did. We loved the humorous banter, the romantic and sexual tension, the personal discoveries, the tragic heartbreak, the second chances at life and love, and the underlying message that if you find yourself stuck in life, look for an outside perspective. Whilst we only hear January’s POV, the superb way in which Beach Read was written ensured that we fully connected with Gus. We felt his pain, we cringed at his awkwardness and we felt his passion.

JUST FRIENDS (Blue Beech #6) by CHARITY FERRELL

‘I love Carolina Adams, and there’s nothing I can do about it because I wouldn’t survive losing her.’

Just Friends is the sixth book in the Blue Beech Series and our first introduction to the people of Blue Beech, Iowa where we meet Carolina Adams , the preachers daughter, and Rex Lane, the mayors son, whose family is the most affluent in their small town. A slow burn friends to lovers.

We really enjoyed our first read by Charity Ferrell and will be lining up to read more from this author. Just Friends was a sweet and sexy friends to lovers story with a twist we didn’t see coming! Talk about a side swipe! You got us good Charity Ferrell! We loved getting to know Rex and Carolina, and like Rex we were dying to see Carolina’s secret unfold. The epilogue was wonderful and made us want to acquaint ourselves with the other characters in Blue Beech from previous books.

THE BROMANCE BOOK CLUB (Bromance Book Club Series #1) by LYSSA KAY ADAMS

'A lonely marriage is the worst kind of lonely there is.'

The first rule of Bromance book club…you guessed it; you don’t talk about the goings-on in the boys’ Bookclub outside the walls of the inner sanctum. It’s a secret place for men to read romance novels to better ‘understand’ their wives, their wants, their needs and to try and emotionally connect with their other halves when all seems lost. And Gavin Scott is most definitely lost.

SIX WEEKS OF LOVING YOU by KARLI PERRIN

“What’s the difference in being your friend or being your lover? You’ll forget me regardless. So why can’t I choose what I want to be to you?”
“Because I don’t want you to get hurt. I don’t want you to get a broken heart.”
“Trust me, it’s already full of cracks.”

What a sweet and beautiful story! Six Weeks of Loving You is our first-time reading author Karli Perrins work and we adored her words. We could easily see this book becoming a movie as it played out before our eyes. It had a 50 First Dates/The Vow feel, with a real emotional and romantic pull, and the authors own stamp branded throughout the pages.

We loved the humour and banter between all the characters, Karli Perrin has a fabulous sense of humour and who wouldn’t fall in love with the bromance between Spencer and Cora’s sister’s fiancé, Adam? It was hilarious! An enjoyable story with a few twists, where the swoon, emotion and engaging storyline made this a fabulous weekend read.

IF YOU GIVE A JERK A GINGERBREAD (Reindeer Falls #2) by JANA ASTON

“It’s Christmas, Ginger, and anything is possible at Christmas. Have a little faith in the magic.”

If You Give a Jerk a Gingerbread is the second book in Jana Aston’s scrumptiously funny, sweet and sexy Christmas romp series. This novella features Ginger, the sister of Holly from The Boss Who Stole Christmas. These novellas are completely standalone, however, why only have one slice of Christmas cake when you can eat the whole damn thing and guarantee a complete Christmas indulgent satisfaction?!

We’ve completely fallen in love with this town, the setting, the people and the romance of it all. Jana Aston has completely wooed us and we’ve become addicted to everything Reindeer Falls. We just cannot get enough, and whilst we’re excited for the last book, The One Night Stand Before Christmas, which is the last sister, Noel’s story, we’re kind of gutted that this’ll be the end. We could keep reading these all the way through December!

KISS AN ANGEL by SUSAN ELIZABETH PHILLIPS

5 'I'm absolutely in love with this book' Stars!

"You're such a damned romantic. Sometimes when I see you looking at me, I have the feeling you're not seeing me at all. Instead, you're seeing the way you want me to be."

One of my reading pleasures is revisiting SEP's stories I've read and loved. Imagine when I discovered one I hadn't read before! It was like winning the book lottery. Seriously, these books are like a nice warm hug, they're like coming home and I loved this book so, so much! I loved Daisy, Alex, the circus setting and the circus animals…oh little Tater completely stole my heart!

If you haven't yet experienced the incredible work of Susan Elizabeth Phillips, you really are missing out. I could sit and read an SEP book every day. They're emotional, passionate, sweet, humorous, swoony - well, everything you could want in a romance book! Another winner from one of my all-time fave authors.

SEP has a knack of writing a really good hero. One who makes us work for his affection, for his love, they're as tough as they are soft, as prickly as they are loving…once you scratch beneath the surface, that is. And Alex Markov struck quite the wounded hero who was certainly a bit of an arse, but to see him crack….oh just take my heart and shred it right now!

Daisy Devreaux, what a doll! Sure she could be a bit whimsical, and she had the tendency to lead with her heart - but scatty Daisy was an absolute sweetheart. There was a time I was reading with choked up emotion clutching my heart because Daisy’s hurt was so palpable and I felt it.....I mean I really felt it. So absorbed was I in the moment I didn't even realise the tears were streaming down my cheeks.

GETTING PLAYED (Getting Some #2) by EMMA CHASE

5 'we fell completely in love' stars!

‘I want to be her everything. Because somewhere along the line, that’s what Lainey’s become to me. Everything.’

We’ve been chomping at the bit for this book, desperately looking forward to returning to Lakeside, New Jersey to meet the girl who puts Garrett’s (from Getting Schooled Book #1) best mate, the drum playing, nerdy hot teacher, Dean Walker on his arse! Well, what a hit! We fell in love with everything about this story! The sexiness, the banter, the swoon, the characters and of course, Dean, as brought to life by the undisputed Queen of the male POV, in her own inimitable style!

We absolutely loved this story! Lainey was a fiercely protective Mum who had the most amazing relationship with her son. We loved how Dean not only taught these super-intelligent young minds educationally but also, about life. To enjoy it, and to just 'be kids'. Great message! The sweet and tender intimacy between Lainey and Dean complimented the sizzling and lusty chemistry perfectly.

THINGS YOU SAVE IN A FIRE by KATHERINE CENTER

What a fabulous story!!

"Love is not weak, it's the opposite. Choosing to love - despite all the ways that people let you down, and disappear, and break your heart. Knowing everything we know about how hard life is and choosing to love anyway…That's not weakness. That's courage."

Katherine Center is a 'new to us' author and what a first reading experience! The writing, the characters, the emotion and the adrenaline rush of the setting as we saw life through the eyes of Cassie Hanwell, a twenty six year old firefighter, kept us completely riveted from start to finish. We absolutely loved Things You Save in a Fire and can't wait to read more from this author.

Things You Save in a Fire is a beautifully inspiring story about courage, love and forgiveness, and one that was written with sweetness, swoon, emotion and heart-stopping suspense, plus a little mystery is thrown into the mix. Everything about this story was thought-provoking and engaging.
